Freaky Friday is a musical with music and lyrics by Tom Kitt and Brian Yorkey, and a book by Bridget Carpenter. This version was developed for licensing by Disney Theatrical Productions and is based on the 1972 book of the same name by Mary Rodgers and its 1976 and 2003 film adaptations. In the story, when an overworked mother and her teenage daughter magically swap bodies, they have just one day to put things right again before the mom’s wedding. SGMT’s version is a fun, energetic musical with important heartfelt themes and loads of fun, especially for teenagers and their parents. This production is directed by Sammy Myrick. SGMT rated PG for some mature themes.

The Scarlet Pimpernel

THE SCARLET PIMPERNEL is a swashbuckling action/adventure musical, based on Baroness Orczy’s famous 20th-century novel about the French Revolution and the battle for Liberty, Equality and Fraternity. With an epic, sweeping book by Nan Knighton and a rousing and passionate score by Knighton and Frank Wildhorn, THE SCARLET PIMPERNEL is a colorful window into 18th century French and British history. The show features drama, comedy, and the love triangle of Percy, a British aristocrat who dons an alias to subvert the French, Chauvlin, his always-clad-in-black nemesis and Marguerite, Percy’s new bride and Chauvlin’s former flame. The show’s most popular numbers include “Into The Fire,” “When I Look At You,” “You Are My Home,” “She Was There,” and “I’ll Forget You.” SGMT’s production will be an exciting, elegant show not to be missed –directed by Kyle Myrick. SGMT rated PG for some minor language, simulated beheadings and mature themes.

The Spitfire Grill – A Musical

Percy Talbot has just been released from a five year prison sentence for manslaughter. She is trying to find a place for a fresh start, and based on a page from an old travel book, travels to the small town of Gilead, Wisconsin. The local sheriff, Joe Sutter, who is also Percy’s parole officer, finds her a job at Hannah’s Spitfire Grill – the only eatery in this struggling town. Percy soon meets other townspeople namely Shelby, the sweet spirit who befriends her, Shelby’s bitter husband Caleb, and Effy, the town busy-body who know little of Percy’s past. The Spitfire Grill is for sale, but with no interested buyers, Hannah decides to raffle it off. Entry fees are one hundred dollars and the best essay on why you want the grill wins. Soon, mail is arriving by the wheelbarrow full and things are definitely getting hot at the Spitfire Grill. This musical triumph is an inspiring celebration of fresh starts and the power of what one person can do. SGMT’s production is directed by Lauretta Swansborough and is rated PG for mature themes.

The Foreigner

The Foreigner is a fun, two-act comedy with a story that takes place in a fishing lodge in rural Tilghman County, Georgia where two Englishmen, Froggy and Charlie, arrive as guests. The shy Charlie agreed to accompany Froggy on the trip after his sick wife begged him to go. When people at the lodge try to talk to Charlie, however, he remains silent: he is terribly shy, depressed about his wife’s illness, and cannot find the words to reply. Froggy claims that Charlie cannot talk because he is a “foreigner” from an exotic country, and does not understand English. Taking the explanation that he’s a non-English speaker as fact, the lodge’s guests quickly, and often hilariously begin revealing their secrets, and Charlie soon discovers scandals amongst some of the residents of the lodge. Directed by David Stanley and SGMT Rated PG.

Fiddler on the Roof

Little Shop of Horrors

Before they brought us Beauty & the Beast and The Little Mermaid, visionaries Alan Menken and Howard Ashman came together to create the unusual rock comedy named Little Shop of Horrors. Meek flower shop assistant Seymour pines for co-worker Audrey. During a total eclipse, he discovers an unusual plant he names Audrey II, which feeds only on human flesh and blood. The growing plant attracts a great deal of business for the previously struggling store. After Seymour feeds Audrey’s boyfriend, Orin, to the plant after Orin’s accidental death, he must come up with more bodies for the increasingly bloodthirsty plant. June 28-July 21.
